GSA Launches Development of a Global Sepsis Accreditation Program

On World Sepsis Day 2026, the Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA) is taking an important step toward strengthening sepsis care at the hospital level with the launch of the development and international validation phase of the GSA Sepsis Accreditation Program.

The new initiative aims to help hospitals translate evidence and clinical recommendations into reliable, measurable systems for sepsis prevention, early recognition, treatment, recovery, and continuous improvement.

Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital–Jeddah (DSFH-J), Saudi Arabia, has joined the initiative as a Founding Pilot Partner. Working alongside GSA, DSFH-J will help test and refine the proposed standards and assessment methodology in a real-world hospital environment.

The program is being developed with global applicability in mind, with additional Founding Pilot Partners expected to join from different healthcare systems and regions. The final accreditation framework will be shaped through this international validation process, with formal international launch targeted for Q1 2027.

This initiative reflects the GSA’s commitment to moving beyond awareness and clinical recommendations toward stronger systems, measurable quality improvement, and better outcomes for people affected by sepsis.
