1st Sepsis Update Symposium – Norte de Santander, Colombia – September 11, 2026
Clínica Medical Duarte, located in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander (Colombia), will hold "World Sepsis Day – 1st Update Symposium: advances, challenges, and strategies for its management" on September 11, 2026, in a hybrid format: on-site at the hospital's main auditorium and livestreamed free of charge, open to participants worldwide, with all sessions delivered in Spanish. It is the first symposium held in Norte de Santander devoted entirely to sepsis, will bring together invited speakers from across Colombia, and is conceived as an annual event with national reach.
The free, eight-hour program brings together twelve speakers around four themes:
Early recognition and activation of the Sepsis Code
Physiology-guided fluid resuscitation
Sepsis in high-complexity populations and sources (sepsis following abortion, febrile neutropenia from children to adults, sepsis of unknown source, and cardiovascular septic shock)
Prevention, covering antimicrobial stewardship programmes, control of antimicrobial resistance, and prevention of catheter-related bloodstream infections.
The symposium is open to physicians, nurses, clinical pharmacists, and health sciences students at no cost.
Its purpose is to reduce sepsis mortality through early detection and standardisation of care, in line with the Global Agenda for Sepsis 2030.
The symposium will also be available online through Microsoft Teams, allowing healthcare professionals to participate remotely.
